Alcohol addiction is characterized by intense cravings, increased tolerance and the experience of withdrawal symptoms when individuals stop consuming alcohol. In today's world a large number of people are suffering from alcoholism, but the good news is that many of them are going through the various approaches of alcohol addiction treatment and have been able to recover living alcohol free lives. At the same time Alcoholics Relapse sometimes due to various reasons such as ineffective treatment. This is when the services provided by the treatment program are not sufficient to encourage the alcoholic to stay sober, or from an absence of serious commitment on the part of the addicted individual.

 

Various symptoms are noticeable by family members that can bring their attention to the fact that the recovered alcoholic has relapsed. Physical changes include bloodshot eyes, blood in the stool, stumbling, weight loss and mumbling words. Furthermore, when some Alcoholics fall into relapse, they may disappear during which time they might buy excessive amounts of alcohol, rent a room in a hotel for a week or more and spend the time in the room drinking alone or with a partner. One of the most important signs of a relapse for alcoholics is lying to their family and friends. They can lie about simple things as they feel the urge to lie about everything in order to hide their active alcoholism. One of the first things that people tend to lie about is money, which they may steal to buy alcohol.

 

Relapsing often makes alcoholics feel guilty as they start considering themselves a failure in the eyes of their family and friends. However not all is lost as they can use the situation they are in as a motivational tool and recommit to becoming clean and sober. Family members of alcoholics who have relapsed should try to enroll their loved ones in an alcohol treatment program. In this type of program alcoholics are provided counseling and supportive therapy. They are also given opportunities to communicate on a one to one basis with a trained and experienced counselor who guides them and helps them to overcome their urges to drink.

 

Apart from going through alcohol treatment program, alcoholics who have relapsed should participate in sports. This will help them stay physically fit as well as divert their attention from the cravings for alcohol. Meditating on a regular basis gives mental strength to relapsed alcoholics which help them overcome their drinking. Alcoholics must follow a good diet plan to help them stay physically healthy which in its turn will make them strong and able to resist alcohol.

 

Alcoholics Relapse but this does not mean the end of their recovery from their addiction. They can go through an alcohol treatment program and keep themselves occupied in sports and mediation.
